Point occurrence biological records made in February & March 2018 in the UK Sovereign Base Areas of Cyprus. Non-native species were particularly targeted.

Data Records

The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 2,220 records.

This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.

Versions

The table below shows only published versions of the resource that are publicly accessible.

Title UKSBA Cyprus non-native species monitoring
Identifier 2af94099-7bc6-43d4-bca7-1d731b9d32f6
Funding Darwin Plus 056
Study Area Description UK Sovereign Base Areas of Akrotiri & Dhekelia, Cyprus
Design Description A 2 x 2 km grid according to projection EPSG:32636 was used to organise sampling. Over the course of two weeks project personnel searched for naturalised, apparently naturalising, or widely planted non-native plant species across each 2 x 2 km square of the UKSBAs in Cyprus. Priority was given to locations not searched in previous field-work associated with this project GUID. Three botanists determined taxa in the field, with frequent reference to relevant Floras (e.g. Meikle, Viney etc.)

Sampling Methods

A 2 x 2 km grid according to projection EPSG:32636 was used to organise sampling. Over the course of two weeks project personnel searched for naturalised, apparently naturalising, or widely planted non-native plant species across each 2 x 2 km square of the UKSBAs in Cyprus. Priority was given to locations not searched in previous field-work associated with this project GUID.

Study Extent UKSBAs of Cyprus.
Quality Control Three botanists determined taxa in the field, with frequent reference to relevant Floras (e.g. Meikle, Viney etc.) Records were captured in the field using ArcPad 10.2 on a GPS enabled tablet computer. All records were manually checked subsequent to field-work in the process of creating the current resource.
